Have you ever ridden your bicycle to the starting line of an ultra event? How about riding to the starting line of two events, back to back, and then also riding back home afterwards? Well, our guest on today's episode, 28-year old Pierre Charles of France did exactly that riding 1500 km (932 miles) to the starting line of the Race Across France climbing through the Alps. Afterwards, Pierre rode another 2500 km (over 1500 miles) to the starting line of the Ultra Bike Pursuit, completing the 2300 km (over 1400 miles) of the Ultimate Pyrenees Pursuit in first place with a time of 10d 16h 45m after climbing 55,700m (about 183,000 ft). Pierre, who works as a bike messenger in Lyon, has already ridden 45,000 kilometers this year. That's 28,000 miles and the year isn't even over yet! Get ready to be inspired... or perhaps just shocked in disbelief. I’m your host, Justin Too.

Let’s roll! 🚲💨

Episode Transcript

I've been an ultra-endurance athlete since 2011. Since then I've bicycled 3,000 miles across the USA to fight human trafficking, participated in the Race Across America (RAAM), ridden twice non-stop from San Jose to Los Angeles (450 miles) and once out-and-back (900 miles), and completed over 50 double centuries, earning me the title of youngest ultra cyclist ever to be inducted into the California Triple Crown Hall of Fame.
